Society Election Enters Third Recount Over Disputed Parking Slot

Observers call it “the most closely fought contest in C-wing history”.

RAJKOT: The election for secretary of a 48-flat housing society entered its third recount on Monday, after both candidates claimed a mandate to decide who parks under the only tree.

The campaign has been fierce. One side promised 24-hour water “within reason”. The other promised a new lift, a claim our fact-checkers rated “made every year since 2009”.

“This is about principles,” said the sitting secretary, who has held the post for eleven years because nobody else wanted the keys to the terrace. “Also, that slot has shade until four o’clock.”

Turnout was a record 46 flats out of 48. The other two belong to owners living abroad, who voted by sending a thumbs-up in the WhatsApp group. The returning officer is still trying to work out who it was for.

A coalition remains possible. Talks are being held next to the lift, which is not working.

This story is satire. It did not happen, nobody said these things, and no dhokla was harmed. About The Gujrat Taste
