Dhokla Officially Reclassified as a Personality Trait

Survey staff add a new column after residents keep writing it under “About Me”.

AHMEDABAD: In a move officials called “long overdue” and nutritionists called “not our department”, dhokla has been formally reclassified from a snack to a personality trait.

The decision follows a pilot survey in which people were asked to describe themselves in three words. A clear majority answered “soft, spongy, slightly sweet”.

“We tried to record it under food habits,” said one visibly tired surveyor. “People kept correcting us. One gentleman said, ‘Beta, I don’t eat dhokla. I am dhokla.’ We had no form for that.”

What changes now

  • Matrimonial profiles may list “khaman or dhokla” next to height and education.
  • Office introductions can skip the hobbies round entirely.
  • Anyone who says “it is basically the same as idli” will receive a polite warning.

A rival petition to recognise khandvi as a love language is expected next month. Fafda declined to comment, saying it only gives statements on Sundays.

This story is satire. It did not happen, nobody said these things, and no dhokla was harmed. About The Gujrat Taste
